Treatment Approaches

Couples Therapy: Married, Engaged, Dating

A fundamental piece of being human is our need for connection and community. When we don’t feel connected or understood to those closest to us, we can feel vulnerable and alone. I emphasize connection and understanding in couples and family therapy and utilize elements of Satir’s Human Validation Process, Emotionally Focused Therapy as well as Gottman’s Sound House Relationship Theory. I aim to strengthen understanding, build communication skills and facilitate shared meaning.

Individual Therapy:

Similar to couples and family therapy, I utilize many elements of Satir’s Human Validation Model to help clients heal and process. My ideal client experiences feelings of insecurity and emotional dysregulation. My clients often wish to improve feelings of anxiety, guilt, shame and depression, insecurity and intrusive thoughts. I address integration of self to help my client’s achieve self-empowerment, self-confidence and self-acceptance.  I use several Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions coupled with experiential and somatic therapy techniques to achieve connection to self and emotional regulation.

field pathI use a variety of approaches to address my clients unique needs. Many successful treatment plans will utilize a foundation of experiential, family systems, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy and somatic therapy techniques. Therapy navigates toward a tailored treatment plan and approach that includes tools to help sustain the growth experienced in regular therapy.

Additionally, there is a growing body of research that supports the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in mental health. Neuroscience research reveals individuals that practice these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my honor and desire to help my clients move past what’s blocking them from reaching their full potential individually and in their relationships.
